Tree or tumbleweed? <-———————— swipe through A tumbleweed has no roots. It goes wherever the wind takes it. There is no anchor, no stability, no place to stand when the wind comes. A tree however, is planted, rooted. Underground where no one can see, there is a foundation that holds it steady when everything above ground is shaking. The question isn’t whether the wind will blow. The question is whether you will have the roots when it does. “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord” Jeremiah 17:7 Roots don’t develop in a day. They develop one faithful decision to trust at a time. Every time you choose the Lord over panic, you’re growing deeper, not just still. “It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit” Jeremiah 17:8 It doesn’t say that the drought won’t come. It says the tree won’t wither when it does. Deep roots don’t prevent the dry season, they determine whether you survive it while still bearing fruit. Being planted is a choice , not an accident. It means staying, in the word, in community, in obedience. Even if and when it would be much easier and convenient to uproot and drift. Scattered things get carried off by the wind. Planted things bear fruit, season after season! If you’ve been drifting, no roots, no community, today’s the day to plant! Growth always starts with a single decision to get planted somewhere. Lord, plant me in your church. Grow in me roots that don’t move when I’m shaken in the storm. Let me be found faithful, and fruitful, even in the storms!
